Marco Scotini is an art critic and independent curator. He lives and works between Florence and Milan. He is director of the Visual Arts School and director of MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan. He is Professor of Contemporary Art History. He collaborates with Flash Art, Artelier, Moscow Art Magazine, Arte e Critica, Work. Art in Progress, Espacio, Millepiani and other journals in the field. He is one of the founding members of Isola Art Center in Milan. He is the co-curator of the international lecture series “The Utopian Display” on contemporary exhibition models and since 2002 he is curator of the annual series of lectures about public space “Connecting People”.
Among recent exhibitions he has curated are “Beautiful Banners. Representation, Democracy, Participation”, Prague Biennale 1, Prague 2003; “NetworkingCity”, Florence 2003; “Going Public. Soggetti, politiche e luoghi”, Modena 2003; “Empowerment”, Genova 2004; “Producendo Realidad”, Lucca 2004; “Revolutions Reloaded”, Milano-Berlino 2004; “Disobedience”, Berlino-Praga-Mexico D.F.-Barcellona-Eindhoven 2005-2007, “Accion Directa” Prague Biennale 2, 2005; “The People’s Choice”, Milano 2006; “Cities from Below, Pisa 2006-2007, “Der Prozess”, Prague Biennale 3, 2007. He has curated important solo shows for public institutions and private galleries with Meschac Gaba, Gianni Motti, Anibal Lopez, Vedovamazzei, Marc Bijl, Radek Community, Regina José Galindo, Oliver Ressler, Michel Verjux, David Ter-Oganyan, Iosif Kiraly.
In addition he is the curator of the Gianni Colombo Archive in Milan. |
